I just booked our summer holiday, whoo-hoo!! Four weeks and two days of camping in France, in Brittany, the Loire valley and Normandy. Plus a couple of days in Legoland on the way down.
Camping? CAMPING???? FOR FOUR WEEKS? Well yes, we likes camping, so we does. There`s no better type of holiday for kids, IMHO. You just unzip the tent in the morning and throw them out the door and they whizz off to do manky muddy things with their new found pals while you get to sit around and knit. Yes, of course we do other things like go to chateaux and cycle and stuff ourselves with French food, but we don`t have to sit mewed up in a concrete hotel room at night.
"But in a tent for four weeks," I hear you ask? "Not for me!" Well, I can see the point of not wanting to spend weeks in a tiny pup tent, but we take our fabby old trailer tent. Double beds, fitted kitchen, electrics to run the fridge...even our own en suite bucket, I`ll have you know.
Yes, I know, not tidy campers either, are we? That first picture was taken four summers ago, when Mairi was not quite two, on one of the French campsites we`ll be revisiting this year. At least we won`t have to take a travel cot and highchair this year.
Yeah, holidaaaays!!! That picture puts me right in the mood. Better go blow the dust off the tandems and the snorkling gear, and buy some suncream............:-D

That is one amazing tent!!! You'll all have so much fun.
Your post brought back some lovely memories of us going camping in France when the kids were small. The ideal holiday as you say and I still love camping although now we motorhome it as we like to go all year round and I'm getting soft in my old age ;-) but we still have our lovely Khyam tent
That is a super-duper tent - looks like tons of fun.
Sounds fab! We used to camp a lot when I was a kid and it was great. I don't know how I'd manage now as the accompanying adult though!
WOW...you have the tent of luxury!!
Have a GREAT time!
Awww lucky you !!!
Our new 16man tent still hasnt seen the light of day !! no holiday for us this year, but next year we are taking FairIsleFibers to woolfest !!! so we will be there en-mass !

I deleted my previous post as I had added my address and then realised that might not be the most sensible thing to do on a 'public' site.
But, as I was saying,
Hello, I'm a spinning, knitting librian Gran as well. I agree camping is a wonderful holiday for kids and therefore their keepers. If you are in France this summer, you can camp on my lawn, I have alpaca and fibre too! We live in the Orne.
"Yay!" Camping rocks. We've booked two shorter trips already and are all eager to get back under canvas. We've got one short weekender booked for next month fairly local - just to get back into the swing of it and we've also booked a week in the New Forest in August. We are planning to do lots of two nighters this year rather than have a proper holiday - lots of little holidays.
A week is the max I can do in our little 4 man tent.
Your tent looks amazing - I like untidy campers - peoples who have neat and tidy tents scare me.
That's posh camping that is - you have rooms!! And they look really organised. Last year I went camping with a one (wo)man tent (my sis and I walked a bit of the South West Coast Path and camped wild. I LOVE it and you're right: it is lovely to camp with kids: economical, entertaining, wonderful.
Typo..
Our kids still tent camp and backpack in Northern Cal, Oregon, etc.
That's a lovely tent. We always went tent camping, and even when the two first babies were both under 15 months, and again when the twins were under 18 months. We love camping. Your tent looks like a dreamhome. I'm glad you are going to have so much fun. Yay!
Have you gone off camping already? Very quiet for very long....
